CUMBIA

I didn’t use to like cumbia so much. When I used to work in Lima, the trips I would make by combi to and from work were not fully enjoyable because cumbia is often played by combi drivers there most of the time. Here in the north of Peru, cumbia is even more popular than in Lima. People play it all the time, everywhere. When I go to work, there is cumbia on the combi radio. If there is a party, most of the songs are cumbia songs. To my surprise, this reality hasn’t been a problem for me anymore. Even though I used to prefer other kinds of music, cumbia is now part of the many memorable experiences I am having here. I love cumbia now!
